Loughrigg from Grasmere in Winter painted in Pastel

 Loughrigg from Grasmere

Painted in Pastel

Whilst searching for a new piece of pastel paper, which I have yet to find!!

I came across this beauty , all gently wrapped in paper.

Within seconds I remembered the day

A February afternoon, crisp and cold

Warm peach light, brightening the fell of Loughrigg

Silver Birch trees sitting on the edge of a near frozen lake

All was quiet, maybe the sound of a Goose flying by

In fact a perfect day to be outdoors savouring the magic of the Lakes.

If you fancy picking up the Pastels, why not join my course

Ripon Cathedral Watercolour painting

 Ripon Cathedral from Hewick Bridge

Painted in Watercolours

Been a Riponian and attending the Ripon Cathedral Junior school, I have always had a infinity with this special Catherdal. You spy it from many different angles and I have a few other ideas for painting this iconic landmark.

This was inspired after a walk down the Canal, turning left and through the Wetlands, joining the River Ure, crossing at  Hewick Bridge and then Cathedral view comes into view across the fields.
Finishing the 5 mile walk along Fishergreen to the Water Rat Pub.

A super nature walk with many interesting viewpoints

Creatively Explore

It was John Ruskin that gave me the idea of the Online Watercolour Course , I read his book 'The elements of Drawing' he had started a correspondence course on the art of drawing skills, for a few weeks students were encouraged to sketch a box and fill it in with even sketch marks.

My correspondence courses are a little different, we paint beautiful watercolours landscapes following step by step pdf and a video full demonstration. It's taken at a relaxing and gentle approach, in this mad world I think we all need a bit of quiet time to ponder and creatively explore.

With six projects in each course all including personal feedback to help to point you in an inspiring direction. Course one is ideal for beginners , with Course two leading on with Ullswater Daffodils been the first project and here's a video to show what else is included on Course Two

The cost of the course is £80 and can be taken worldwide as long as you have a good understanding of Yorkshire dialect !!! Only joking

 £80.00

The flowers are nearly out in the Yorkshire Dales, we had a walk from Reeth to Grinton Bridge yesterday. It's a beautiful 4 mile circular walk along the River Swale to Grinton Bridge and back through the flower meadows to Reeth.
There was lots of birdlife along the river Chaffinches , Goldfinch, Sand Martin, Pied Wagtail, we heard a a few Curlew and spied them in the distance. No Kingfisher today unfortunately and not many Butterflies.

Dark clouds to start the walk, but the sunshine popped out later.

New Hobby, New Year

I know it's a little late, but A very happy inspiring new year to you.

We've had some very cold wintery weather here in North Yorkshire, which produced beautiful landscapes and stunning light and skies. It was at times like walking in a winter wonderland.

Having a few hobbies makes this time of year so much easier, I enjoy coming back and getting the watercolours out to do a quick study of what inspired me to put colour to paper.

I've recently taken back up knitting, I started as a child like many do, with my Grandma and Auntie. It's a real joy to pick up the needles, and learn how to use the circular needle to knit Socks. The colours of yarns are simply mind blowing and it is marvellous to connect each hobby together.

If you fancy getting the watercolors out, and would like some gently guidance my online Beginners course could be perfect this winter.

The price for the Online Watercolor Course is $85.00 for USA artists. The course includes six projects all sent by email with written instructions and step by step video. Each project also includes personal feedback for extra guidance and to gain confidence in watercolor painting.

The Beginners course is £70 for all UK inspiring artists for more information
